3-D Rendering of ANDRITZ Fabric Filters

Fabric filter (FF)

The fabric filter (or baghouses or bag filters) uses a filter medium to separate particulate matter (PM) from the flue gases. The PM is deposited on the surface of the fabric filter, which can be made of different materials depending on the physical and chemical composition of the flue gas. The dust is removed periodically when the bags are cleaned.

ANDRITZ fabric filters have been developed over the past decade to reduce particulate emissions, capital cost and footprint. These filters offer a robust solution for power generation and industrial applications, especially when the dust characteristics are challenging or variable. ANDRITZ offers both high-ratio (pulse jet) and low-ratio (reverse air) FF designs. The ANDRITZ fabric filter may be used as a stand-alone unit or integrated into hybrid filters (ESP and FF) or multi-pollutant control equipment (TurboSorp, Turbo-CDS, NID or SDA). In addition, ANDRITZ is actively collaborating with filter bag manufacturers to offer guarantees for the lowest emissions and longest bag lifetime on the market for selected processes.

ANDRITZ Fabric Filter

The key features of the ANDRITZ fabric filter are:

  • Outlet PM emissions lower than 2 mg/Nm3
  • Removal efficiencies greater than 99.9% for dPM > 5 µm and up to 99.6% for dPM < 5 µm
  • Greater fuel flexibility and ability to handle varying plant operating loads
  • Can be adapted to small or large volumetric flows of flue gas
  • Industrial and electricity generation applications, with over 1,400 references worldwide
  • Filter bags up to 12 meters high for reduced footprint and operating costs
  • Flue gas inlet temperatures up to 260 °C (~500 °F)
  • Renowned OPTIPOW plunger valves for efficient bag cleaning
  • Latest state-of-theart controller EFFIC with advanced functions, such as modulated pulse cleaning for longer bag life and lower particulate emission
  • Well suited for stand-alone operation or integration into multi-pollutant equipment
  • Collaboration with filter bag manufacturers to offer guarantees for the lowest emissions and longest bag lifetime on the market

ESP Electrostatic Precipitator 3D white-computer generated image

Dry Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP)

The ESP uses electrical forces to remove Particulate Matter (PM) from the flue gases. A high voltage source, generating a corona current, charges the PM which migrate to the collecting plate. PM are removed from the plate by a knocking action.

HYBRID_Filter

Hybrid Filters

Hybrid Filter is a combination of ESP and FF with several configurations (in serie and in the same casing (integrated) or in separated casings in serie or in parallel (separated)).

Wet Electrostatic Precipitator (WESP)

As for the dry ESP, the wet ESP uses electrical forces to remove Particulate Matter (PM) from the flue gases. A high voltage source, generating a corona current, charges the PM which migrate to the collecting plate. PM are removed from the plate by flushing water.
