ANDRITZ HYDRO to supply Francis turbines and generators for the Mica hydropower plant, Canada
International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order from British Columbia Hydro & Power Authority to supply two Francis turbines and generators to extend the Mica hydropower plant in British Columbia, Canada.
The order comes into force in the first quarter of 2011 and has a value of approximately 110 MEUR.
The ANDRITZ HYDRO scope of supply includes installation and commissioning of two large Francis turbines (each with an output of 520.3 MW) with a runner diameter of 5,600 mm and a unit weight of more than 130 t, and of the generators (each with an output of 570 MVA).
The Mica hydro power station was first commissioned 1976, with four 444 MW Francis turbines and generators. Provision was made during the original building work for two additional units to be installed in the current extension project.
