Automation solutions for oil and gas operations

Helping to achieve operational readiness

ANDRITZ helps oil and gas facilities around the world bridge the gap between concept and production to achieve operational readiness.

We provide a full range of solutions for electrical, control, and instrumentation systems at oil and gas facilities. If the project is a greenfield plant, ANDRITZ AUTOMATION makes sure that the control system is designed with a complete advanced control solution and tested against a dynamic simulation, so that processes will start up error-free. If the project is an upgrade or optimization, we will provide customized engineering, simulation, control, and training solutions.

Engineering

The control system in a modern oil and gas operation touches every piece of equipment and instrument in the plant. Nothing will be conveyed, classified, or pumped until the plant’s control system is operationally ready. In short, control of the plant can mean the difference between profit and loss.

That’s why ANDRITZ AUTOMATION has an engineering group that focuses on the design of electrical, control, and instrumentation systems. These disciplines typically account for a small portion of the total project budget, but their importance to the operation of a plant is paramount.

ANDRITZ structures the scope of supply to fit commercial needs, from engineering to engineering and equipment supply, to engineering, procurement and construction. Whatever the situation, we have the people, the patents, and the proven tools to ensure that the plant is operationally ready.

Simulation

ANDRITZ simulation capabilities for pipelines have been proven after a successful performance on the “Hardisty Cavern Storage” project for Enbridge Pipelines. In fact, Enbridge – the largest batch transporter of liquid petroleum products in North America – applies the IDEAS simulator as a key technology when analyzing valve performance. Our solutions include the IDEAS VMG and IDEAS OLI engines.

"I believe the IDEAS models are the highest fidelity that have ever been achieved in the oil sands industry. They were very complex... they (ANDRITZ AUTOMATION) have created a simulator that without any question is the best there is in the industry."

Advanced process control

The ANDRITZ patented, PID-replacement controller BrainWave is revolutionizing control at operations around the globe. We have helped producers large and small remove bottlenecks, reduce energy and chemical consumption, produce higher quality products more consistently, and lower production costs. Our solutions include BrainWave SRU.

Our experience means we understand customers’ requirements and can provide the solutions – quickly and efficiently. ANDRITZ delivers its services and products right on site, whether it is a processing facility in the middle of an urban industrial complex or a pipeline running through the Canadian tundra.
