ANDRITZ Reject Compactor ReCo

Dewatering of rejects to highest dryness

Rejects from recycled fiber lines are quite wet when they leave the process, with a lot of free water and water stored in the fibrous material. While free water is relatively easy to remove, the water in the fibers is more critical. Considerable force is needed to achieve an acceptable dry content in the material. However, the higher reject consistencies also help save on drying and disposal costs.

The Reject Compactor ReCo is a robust screw press for dewatering fiber-containing rejects. It is best suited for rejects from

  • drum pulping and conventional pulping systems - ReCo-C (coarse rejects, big plastic portion, higher consistency)
  • fine screening and DAF - ReCo-F (finer rejects, high fiber content, low consistency)

Reject Compactor ReCo-F – Dewatering of fine rejects

Typical coarse rejects are:

  • Pieces of plastic and plastic films, undissolved paper (light)
  • Stones, pieces of metal (heavy)

Typical fine rejects are:

  • Fibers, stickies, wax (light)
  • Sand, glass, small pieces of metal (heavy)

ANDRITZ Reject Compactor

The Reject Compactor ReCo is available in three different models:

  • ReCo-C: for coarse pulping rejects with higher consistencies, typically 10-45%
  • ReCo-F: for fine rejects with higher fiber content and consistencies down to 1.5%
  • ReCo-L: light design with smaller capacities for fibrous rejects and/or consistencies as low as 0.8%; discharge consistency up to 35%

Benefits: ANDRITZ Reject Compactor

1. Screw

  • Sturdy two-flight screw for even distribution of forces
  • Wear-resistant hard facing
  • Double flight thickness in high-pressure section

2. Screen basket

  • Modular heavy-duty screen baskets with replaceable screen plates
  • High wear resistance
  • Octagonal design prevents material from rotating with the screw
  • Screen hole size adapted to the type of reject

3. Counter-pressure device

  • Pressure hatches are opened or closed to optimize the compression level
  • Fast reaction time to avoid machine plugging
  • Can be swung out of the way completely for easy maintenance
