How can you eliminate 28,000 tons of CO2 emissions?
Schwenk, Allmendingen (Germany)
Did you know: The world’s largest rotary drum dryer for sludge handling helps one of Europe’s leading cement manufacturers to produce dried municipal sludge from kiln exhaust heat as a sustainable fuel source while significantly reducing the plant’s raw fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
Energy efficiency. For cement manufacturers, it can make a world of difference. Take, for example, one of Germany’s largest cement producers, who approached us with an innovative idea. They wanted to turn municipal sludge into a sustainable fuel source using recycled exhaust gas heat to dry the product.
Our solution:
The world’s largest rotary drum dryer for sludge drying, 4.6 m in diameter and 17 m in length, achieving dry solids content of 90% using only exhaust gas from the cement kiln as a heat source.
Results:
Eliminated the need for costly heat exchangers, reduced annual raw fuel consumption by about 20,000 tons/year and CO2 emissions by nearly 30,000 tons annually.
