Metris CoPilot - Transforming pulp mill operations with AI
Imagine having a chat box on the dashboard of your PC where you can converse directly with your pulp mill equipment, in your own language, checking on the conditions and performance and then receiving instant feedback and advice. Sounds like something out of the future? ANDRITZ Metris Copilot is already here and is ready to continue the digital transformation of the performance of pulp mills.
We all hear a lot about Artificial Intelligence (AI), but it’s only when we see it in action in our daily work life that it really makes an impact – and that’s what ANDRITZ has achieved with Metris Copilot. Our vision for this product is to delegate as much of the work as possible involved in running a pulp mill to machines and AI, leaving humans in control, empowering them to make all the important decisions.
The Metris Copilot solution has been developed in collaboration with Microsoft, bringing together ANDRITZ’s process industry expertise with Microsoft’s technical proficiency.
DRIVING OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE WITH METRIS COPILOT’S AI CAPABILITIES
ANDRITZ's vision is to build fully autonomous plants capable of self-operation by delegating as much workload as possible to machines and AI, leaving humans in control and empowering them to make important decisions without having to delve into every single detail. The Metris Copilot is our latest innovation towards realizing that vision.
CHAT INTERFACE WITH QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS IN REAL TIME
The Metris Copilot system integrates anomaly detection with a chat interface to provide real-time insights to the operators and maintenance teams using Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and control systems data (DCS or PLC) to apply machine learning algorithms that identify and prevent faults, errors, and defects.
The system features a digital assistant with the chat interface that can react with pulp mill equipment using generative AI. The digital assistant can also lead the demo interaction using a questions-and-answers format; it integrates data from various aspects of the manufacturing process, such as OEE, SPC, and cost, to provide a holistic and comprehensive view.
When interacting with Metris Copilot, problem-solving becomes much faster, as the system has instant access to not only equipment performance but also manuals and knowledge-based articles. It's allowing for quicker corrections and much higher uptimes once it combines ANDRITZ process and equipment knowhow and Microsoft’s machine learning capabilities.
