Valuable waste

In the Texas city of Fort Worth, ANDRITZ helps to process large amounts of waste water by converting sewage sludge into fertilizer. CO₂ emissions are also reduced in the process.

Step by step

Swedish company Södra is able to produce up to 6.3 million liters of commercial-quality biomethanol a year with help from ANDRITZ. The biomethanol is used to make biodiesel fuel for motor vehicles.

The Taiwanese company Walsin Lihwa has substantially reduced its water and acid consumption in stainless steel production thanks to ANDRITZ.

What does “Sustainability” mean when you are building and operating a large hydroelectric power plant?

On the Mekong River in Laos, the Xayaburi Power Company (XPCL) has commissioned a hydroelectric power plant that is generating electricity for Thailand and Laos. ANDRITZ contributed significant parts of the electromechanical equipment and accompanied this mammoth project from start to finish. XPCL project manager Michael Raeder explains how ecological, economic and social goals were reconciled with one another.

How can the exhaust gas from ships’ engines be cleaned thoroughly and cost-effectively?

In order to comply with international emission limits for sulfur and nitrogen oxides maritime vessels must either use expensive low-sulfur fuel or install exhaust gas cleaning plants so that they can continue to use heavy fuel oil with a high sulfur content.

Lysefjord in southwestern Norway is spectacular: The deep blue inlet extends 42 kilometers inland, framed by rugged cliffs hundreds of meters high. At the end of the fjord, a different kind of gem is ensconced deep in the rock: the new Lysebotn II hydropower station. The Lyse Group produces highly efficient “green energy” here – with effective support from ANDRITZ.

Gleaming nuggets in panning screens beside rushing mountain rivers: Modern gold mining has very little in common with such images of the Wild West. But an eye for detail is still important. In the largest gold mine in the eastern USA, ANDRITZ technology is being used to optimize many facets of this industrial process.

In 2017, ANDRITZ concluded two very successful pulp mill projects that were unique worldwide: Fibria‘s Três Lagoas second pulp production line was started up in Brazil, and key production technologies were supplied for the Metsä Group’s bioproduct mill in Finland.
