Just recently, the new ANDRITZ China headquarters were opened in Foshan. Thus, it is about time that our Chinese marketing colleagues Wanling Liang and Kexin Huang take us on a journey into this part of the Far East world of superlatives. We start right away in the city of goats, as Guangzhou is affectionately called, with a truly outstanding building: The canton tower or Guangzhou tower. This impressive building was built in 2010 and measures a proud 604 meters in height. The multi-purpose observation tower is located in Haizhu district of the city and is today the second largest tower and as a free-standing building the fourth largest in the world.

From this modern place, we travel back in time and come to rest in the ancestral temple of Foshan. This
Taoist temple occupies about 25,000 square meters of the area of Foshan. It was built by Emperor Zhezong at the time of the Song Dynasty in the 11th century. Another world famous Chinese dynasty was the Ming Dynasty in the 16th century. At this time, another significant building was erected: The Nanfeng Kiln. In this historic ceramic kiln, the famous Shiwan ceramics have been produced for more than 500 years.

For those who have a hard time deciding between cultural treasures and modern architecture, Wanling and Kexin have the perfect remedy. In the heart of the Chancheng District in Foshan, classic Chinese buildings blend with modern architecture. An absolute must-go! Also the numerous, beautiful parks such as the Xiqiai Mountain National Forest Park should not be missed on an intensive exploration tour. Just like Foshan Lingnan Tiandi, where you can shop and eat in an extremely pleasant atmosphere. Action fans should not miss the Bruce Lee Park. Here you can learn all about the history of the world famous fighter and actor.

Guangzhou and Foshan offer even more for culture lovers. A visit to Sun Yat-Sen University is highly recommended in Guangzhou. In addition to an extremely high level of education, it impresses with an exceptionally beautiful campus. Those who cannot get enough of outstanding architecture should also visit the Guangzhou Opera House as well as the library!

In addition to exceptional architecture, the region also has a lot to offer in culinary. In any case, Double Skin Milk should be at the top of the to-taste list. It is a dessert consisting of (buffalo) milk, protein, and sugar. This velvety soft milk cream - comparable to Panna Cotta – has two skins. The first skin forms upon cooling of the boiled milk and the second one when the cooked pudding cools down. The menu should not miss Dim Sum. Dim Sum are prepared as bite-sized portions in small steam baskets or on small plates. They are usually served with tea. In Cantonese teahouses, there are small Dim Sum trolleys that guests can order without leaving their seats. The Cantonese tradition of having endless cups of tea and Dim Sum is also called "Yum Cha" meaning "drinking tea". If you drink tea and eat Dim Sum at one of the many restaurants in Guangzhou or Foshan, with a bit of luck you may also meet Wanling and Kexin.
