ANDRITZ to supply new pickling section for heavy-duty push pickling line to Salzgitter Flachstahl, Germany
International technology group ANDRITZ has received an order from Salzgitter Flachstahl, Salzgitter, Germany, to supply a new pickling section for the existing push pickling line designed for heavy-duty steel grades.
The line was supplied by ANDRITZ in 1992 and has been operating successfully ever since. The new process equipment will ensure continued reliable operation and increase the line’s efficiency. Start-up is scheduled for mid-2025.
The scope of supply comprises the complete high-end ANDRITZ process technology for push pickling including a circulation system, high turbulence hydrochloric acid pickling, a compact rinsing and drying section, plus a state-of-the-art trimming shear.
The new process equipment will improve strip threading through the pickling section and increase pickling efficiency. The circulation system will be equipped with the latest ANDRITZ process control, ensuring optimized consumption of utilities and reduced emissions.
Push pickling lines from ANDRITZ have proven their outstanding performance in steel mills all over the world and are considered the current benchmark in advanced high-strength steel pickling.
The Salzgitter plant is a traditional top-quality steel plant with ambitious projects to make steel production more eco-friendly. This push pickling line upgrade is part of a major investment and development program in which ANDRITZ is proud to be involved.
